Reality Show Star Busted For Attempted Murder of Security Officer www.privateofficer.com

Honolulu HI. Jan 5 2008
One of the stars of the reality TV show “Dog the Bounty Hunter” was arrested today on suspicion of attempted murder and indecent exposure. Tim Chapman, who works alongside Duane “Dog” Chapman as a bounty hunter, turned himself in to Honolulu police this afternoon. The arrest stems from an incident last night in an Ala Moana parking lot.Last night, Ala Moana Center security guards were notified that a naked man was performing lewd acts in his pick-up truck in the Bank of Hawaii parking lot.Police say a security guard approached the truck, told the man to put on his clothes then get out of his vehicle. Police say the man put on his clothes, then started up his truck, hopped the sidewalk, almost hitting the security guard. He then took off.The security guard recognized the driver as Tim Chapman from the hit reality show “Dog the Bounty Hunter.”"It seems funny to me they would so something like this. I hope it’s not true,” said Larry Gardiner, a “Dog the Bounty Hunter” fan. Police checked Tim Chapman’s Hawaii Kai home, but were told he’s separated from his wife and has been living out of his truck. Then around 2:30 this afternoon, Tim Chapman turned himself in to Honolulu police.Chapman’s attorney Brook Hart says it’s all a misunderstanding. “Tim Chapman was driving in the Ala Moana, Kapioplani Blvd. area when he inadvertently spilled some orange juice, orange drink or liquid in his lap, and he got all wet so looked for a place for some privacy,” said Brook Hart, Tim Chapman’s attorney.Hart says Tim Chapman was not performing lewd acts.”He was merely changing from one pants to another when a security guard came and yelled at him to get out of his car. Tim panicked and drove over the curb and left the area,” said Hart.Tim Chapman was booked on suspicion of indecent exposure, and attempted murder for nearly running over the security guard. Although, police say he may be charged with terroristic threatening instead. Tim Chapman remains at the Honolulu Police Department’s main cell block tonight, pending charges.

Security officer charged with murder in club shooting www.privateofficer.com

Indianapolis IND. Jan 5, 2007
A security guard was arrested Friday night and preliminarily charged with murder in a New Year’s Day shooting that killed another security guard and injured four others at a Far Eastside pub.
Sunungura Rusununguko, 29, Indianapolis, a security guard for the bar, turned himself in to Detective Ed Brickley at the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police’s Homicide Branch at 6:30 p.m., accompanied by his attorney.
He is believed to be responsible for the death of Ronnie Croom Jr., 30, a guard employed by a private security firm, in a shooting at Durty Nelly’s Pub, 2805 N. Franklin Road, just hours after the new year began, according to police spokesman Sgt. Paul Thompson.
The others who were shot were hospitalized in stable or good condition.
Police are still trying to put the story together, but investigators have determined that people in the bar were causing a disturbance that security personnel attempted to move outside.
Those security officers included Croom, employed by Old School Security. The private security firm was hired by Normski Promotions, the group hosting a New Year’s Eve event at the pub.
Rusununguko also was a security officer but was employed by the pub, police said.
According to police, Rusununguko followed the group to the pub’s entrance, where the shooting took place. Police said he told them he did not see anything.
Later, witnesses told police they saw Rusununguko firing the shots that struck Croom and the four others. The gun has been recovered, police said.
Police did not disclose any motive for the gunfire or where the gun was found Friday night.
Rusununguko has no known criminal history, according to Thompson.

Hospital worker accussed of rape captured by security www.privateofficer.com

Hospital worker accussed of rape captured by security www.privateofficer.com

Columbus GA. Jan 5, 2008
A 40-year-old Columbus woman said her life has not been the same since she was awakened to find a 315-pound employee of The Medical Center forcing himself on her while she slept in her daughter’s hospital room last month.
The Dec. 21 attack led to the arrest of Cleveland Shack, 48, of 3400 Eighth Ave., Columbus. Shack, an employee of The Medical Center since October 2000, was arrested the same day and fired Dec. 22, according to Columbus Regional Healthcare System Senior Vice President Tom Titus. Shack worked in environmental services as a floor care specialist, he said.
“We do a criminal background check on all employees. We don’t hire employees with prior felony offenses that indicate they would be a threat to patients or the public,” Titus said Thursday. “We take the safety of our patients and visitors seriously. We do have mechanisms in place to protect the public and patients.”
Shack was charged with aggravated sodomy, said Columbus Police Sgt. Debra Bohannon of the Sex Crimes Unit. He was ordered held without bond in Muscogee County Jail, and the case was bound over to Muscogee Superior Court.
During a Dec. 22 Recorder’s Court hearing, the woman begged the judge not to set a bond, out of fear the man might come after her or her children. The case is expected to go to a Muscogee County grand jury.
The victim, who talked with a reporter Thursday, said she thought she was having a nightmare when she awoke during the 4 a.m. attack, feeling as if she was choking.
“Then I realized it was not a dream. Someone was standing over me. I was gasping for my breath. There was no way for me to scream. He grabbed me by the head, shoulder area and around my neck area as I was struggling with him. He said, ‘Come on, make me feel good.’ “
Apparently hearing noise in the fifth-floor patient room, a respiratory therapist came to check on the woman’s daughter and saw the man standing over the woman and ran for additional help, said the mother, who explained that she was sitting halfway up in a hospital chair at the time of the attack.
“I remembered I had a Mace container on my keychain,” she said. “I grabbed the Mace and started Macing him. Respiratory therapy and nurse staff gathered in the room. I said things like ‘You sick pervert.’ He said I was crazy for spraying him with Mace. He said, ‘Get that crazy lady off me.’ Nurses were trying to hold me back from attacking him.”
The woman said her attacker got loose and began running down the hallway. She chased him down the hall, continuing to spray Mace at him. The victim then found a wooden Christmas ornament and tried to hit him with it. She said he darted through a security door that she didn’t have access to. But shortly, a hospital security officer arrived and caught up with him.
Bohannon said police were called and took Shack to the police department, where he was charged after they obtained enough evidence.
“This is something the public needs to know is going on and be aware of what kind of person he is,” she said. “He was treating me like an animal, but he was the animal. I am kind of afraid. You feel you have to watch over your shoulder.”
She said she still can’t believe it happened at the hospital.
“It seems unbelievable, something you might hear in a movie or on TV,” she said.
The victim said she had seen Shack at the hospital during trips her daughter made, but she didn’t know him. She said he came into her daughter’s room about midnight Dec. 21, five hours after her daughter was admitted and asked how she was doing.
This is the second sexual assault to occur in a Columbus hospital. A man pleaded guilty in Superior Court on Nov. 26, 2007, to committing sexual assaults on a patient at St. Francis Hospital.

Constable arrested for rape of child www.privateofficer.com

HARRISBURG, AR Jan 5 2008 — A Region 8 constable is in jail tonight charged with the rape of a ten year old girl. 65-year-old John Jennings was arrested on the charge of rape which is a Class “Y” felony and if convicted could have a minimum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
The arrest happened in Jonesboro, but Jennings was transferred to Poinsett County where police say the crime occurred.
Poinsett County Chief Deputy Chris Holt says the investigation into the alleged rape started back in early November.
“The Sheriff’s office was contacted by NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro in reference to a child rape,” said Holt.
Officers said the alleged victim is a ten-year-old female and knew the suspect.
“The investigation was opened into the case along with Arkansas Crimes against Children Unit of the Arkansas State Police. The child went through interviews with a forensic interviewer,” said Holt.
The detectives say she also had a physical examination.
“The child was examined by the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock and following the investigation and examination we applied for a warrant for Mr. Jennings,” Holt.
Poinsett County Detective Joey Martin who is working on this case said their investigation shows that the alleged incidents had been taking place for some time.
“That’s what is alleged that it started approximately four years ago and continued until recently,” said Holt.
Jennings is an elected official. He started serving his first term as constable of Boliver Township five years ago and is currently into his second term.
His next court date is February 22nd. At Friday’s probable cause hearing the judge gave Jennings a $250,000 bond.

Security officer tackles man with grenade www.privateofficer.com

Security officer tackles man with grenade at hospital www.privateofficer.com

Detroit MI. Jan 6 2008
An unidentified man was under observation after he walked into the emergency room of Detroit Receiving Hospital on Saturday night with two grenades.
Security personnel at the hospital, 4201 St. Antoine Blvd., inspected the man after he set off a metal detector just before 6 p.m. A security officer found he had a grenade in his hand with the pin out. The officer tackled the man and ensured that the lever of the grenade did not depress while the emergency room was evacuated.
Other officers arrived and found another grenade with the pin in place.
Detroit police were called and the bomb squad took away the grenade that was missing the pin.
Rick McCarty, manager of security for the Detroit Medical Center, said it was unclear if the grenades were operational. He added that the officer who grabbed the grenade without the pin suffered an ankle injury.
“They rolled around a bit,” McCarty said. “Our guy was intent on keeping both hands on the grenade.”
The emergency room reopened about 30 minutes after the incident.
“Our officers did a great job,” McCarty said. “I give a lot of credit to our officers.”
The man was put in the hospital’s crisis center for evaluation. No other injuries were reported.

City Demands $100,000 From Wackenhut Over Theft by; Rick McCann www.privateofficer.com

City Demands $100,000 From Wackenhut Over Theft by; Rick McCann www.privateofficer.com

NASHVILLE TN JAN 6 2008
The legal fur is flying over the theft of two laptop computers from the Davidson County Election Commission containing 337,000 Metro voters’ Social Security numbers.
The city’s legal department sent a demand letter to Metro security contractor The Wackenhut Corporation’s Nashville office Friday seeking at least $100,000 for damages caused by a Christmas Eve burglary of the election commission and subsequent theft of the laptops.
In addition, a local law firm with some recent ties to Metro politics filed a lawsuit late Friday on behalf of three voters over the laptop theft.Metro Director of Law Sue Cain’s letter to Wackenhut – an international security firm – stating the company’s contract with Metro calls for Wackenhut to “indemnify and and hold harmless Metro” for any damages related to negligence on the company’s part.
In a hearing with Metro Council members this week over the laptop theft, Department of General Services Director Nancy Whittemore said a security guard was on-site at the time of the break-in, but admitted to not doing his job and spent the time listening to Christmas music. The unnamed guard has since been terminated from Specialized Security Consultants, Inc., the Mt. Juliet-based subcontractors of Metro’s security provider Wackenhut, according to Whittemore.“At the time of the break-in and theft, we have been advised that your security guard breached his responsibilities and was negligent in the performance of his duties,” Cain’s letter states. “The damages incurred by the Metropolitan Government as a result of that break-in and theft were the result of the negligent acts and omissions of your guard.”In statements prior to the hearing, election commission officials admitted the two laptops had been left out in the office contrary to Election Commission protocol that they should be stored in a secured, locked space.
In addition, Metro officials admitted security cameras were not plugged into a digital recording device at the time of the break-in.Metro, Wackenhut and Specialized Security Consultants all became the target of litigation late Friday over the laptop thefts and the possible harm that could come to Metro voters should their personal information fall into the wrong hands.Three Davidson County voters – including former Oak Hill Mayor Raymond T. Throckmorton III – filed suit in Circuit Court demanding the parties take steps to protect Metro’s 337,000 registered voters from any harm that could come to their credit ratings.
In addition to seeking Class action status for the 337,000 voters, the suit demands Metro procure multiple credit reports for each voter and “hold harmless each voter whose personal information has been compromised.”The suit also lodged additional allegations about the night of the break-in, including statements the guard ordered food and visited a break room. The suit was brought by attorneys John Ray Clemmons and Gary Blackburn. Both men were advisors to former Congressman Bob Clement’s unsuccessful campaign for mayor against Mayor Karl Dean.

Chaplain shoots police officer in botched prank by; Rick McCann www.privateofficer.com

FESTUS MO. Jan 6 2008 — Police believe that a practical joke led to the shooting of a 23-year-old Ste. Genevieve police officer Tuesday. The rookie officer allegedly faked a break-in around 9:45 p.m. at his brother-in-law’s home in Festus, said Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis.”He didn’t tell the family he was coming and decided to sneak in the back door,” Lewis said. “The resident asked him to call out who he was, and he didn’t, and he shot him.”A short time later, Festus police noticed a car speeding and running red lights along Veterans Boulevard to Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Officers recognized the driver as an on-call minister for the Festus Police Department, Lewis said
Once there, officers asked him what happened, and he said, ‘I shot my brother-in-law,’” Lewis said, adding that the victim was in the back seat. “It looks like an unfortunate set of circumstances, a joke gone horribly, horribly wrong. They always like to play practical jokes on each other.”The bullet lodged in the victim’s lower abdomen. Police would not release his name or the shooter’s name because the investigation is ongoing. The Jefferson County sheriff’s office is handling the investigation. Jefferson County Lt. Dave Marshak said, “It is very preliminary at this point, but it does appear to be an unfortunate accident.”Ste. Genevieve Police Chief Dale Newman said the officer has worked there since June, and his brother-in-law was about to become an on-call chaplain for Ste. Genevieve, as well.Newman said the victim had surgery and was in stable condition Wednesday at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
