Des Moines IA. Feb 11 2008 A scuffle at a downtown night club between patrons, security and off-duty police officers led to four arrests.
The incident began sometime before 11:45 p.m. Saturday, according to a Des Moines police report, when bar security at the Kamodo Klub, 214 Third St., asked that a group of patrons be escorted out of the building after police said Tammy Noble, 37, fought with another customer. As security was walking the group out of the bar, Jenny Nokes, 35, screamed that someone had pulled her hair, according to the report. At that point, Todd Barber, 39, pushed one of the off-duty officers and told him to get his hands off his wife.The report did not specify to whom Barber is married. Nokes was being arrested, and cooperating, but then tried to pull away and told the officer that she “was not going to jail,” according to the report. The officers took Nokes to the ground with help from bar security while she continued to struggle until she was handcuffed. With Nokes, Barber and Noble in custody, the officers walked back into the club to make sure the rest of the group had left, according to the report. Shana Witter, 29, was trying to walk out of the bar with a beer in her hand. When bar security tried to take the beer from her, she hit one of the security guards. She was arrested. The four were taken to Polk County Jail and each was charged with assault and interference with official acts. None of the officers or security guards suffered visible injuries, according to the report.
