Metro Police are investigating the discovery of the lifeless body of an infant boy Sunday night in a trash can at a Las Vegas Strip hotel and casino.
An Excalibur Hotel and Casino security guard found the infant’s body wrapped in a hotel gift bag and a pillow case in a trash can, according to police.
The hotel’s security called police about 9:40 p.m. Sunday after hotel employees discovered the body while cleaning a trash receptacle inside a woman’s restroom, police said.

No one indicated that someone had given birth recently, but the location is unknown at this time, police said.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office once the infant is identified and next of kin are notified.

The cause of the infant’s death has not been determined.
