Shoplifters arrested for trespassing after warning www.privateofficer.com
She may be barred from the Staten Island Mall, but that didn’t stop her from shoplifting more than $1,000 worth of designer sunglasses there, authorities allege.
Charlene Thompson, 26, of the 100 block of Park Hill Avenue in Clifton, was caught on video April 9 stealing the glasses along with another woman, according to court papers.
Both Ms. Thompson and her mother, also Charlene, have a history of shoplifting arrests at the Mall.
They have been accused on separate occasions of using shopping bags lined with foam, silver duct tape and aluminum foil to get past store security sensors.
In December 2004, the older Ms. Thompson fell over a second-floor railing into a fountain in the Staten Island Mall as she allegedly tried to elude guards who suspected her of shoplifting baby clothes from Macy’s.
In February 2005, the Mall’s security department issued a “barring notice” against the younger Ms. Thompson, banning her from the premises for five years, court papers show.
She was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with fourth-degree grand-larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree criminal trespass.
