Clayton County police have arrested a middle school student and charged him with biting or grabbing the buttocks of at least 10 women at the Lovejoy Wal-Mart.
Capt. Greg Dickens said police believe there are more victims who have failed to report the assaults and now that there is a suspect in these cases, he urges the woman to come forward.
Police and loss prevention areas in Walmarts across the region have been on the look-out for a suspect after receiving numerous complaints of someone coming up behind woman and and fondling or biting woman’s buttocks.
The 15-year-old suspect has been apprehended and is now charged with four counts of sexual battery and more charges are expected.
Dickens said complaints of rear-end assaults at the store began in August and continued throughout May.
The boy was interviewed by police Wednesday after a victim saw him with relatives and confronted him, Dickens said.
Anyone with information about this case can call police at 770-477-3747.

WV police stay busy with copper thefts www.privateofficer.com

WV police stay busy with copper thefts http://www.privateofficer.com

BECKLEY, W.Va. May 23 2008 — Police in two counties arrested six people this week in separate cases involving copper theft.Raleigh County authorities said two men cut down phone wire from a utility pole — and tore down the pole in the process — while trying to get their hands on valuable copper.Because the thefts took place in the rural Coal River Valley, authorities noted the thefts could have caused residents to lose phone service and the ability to summon help in an emergency.
Steven Kent Campbell, 34, of Colcord, and Joey Ray Gunnoe, 23, of Naoma, were charged Wednesday with grand larceny, conspiracy to commit a felony and transfer of stolen property, sheriff’s Chief Deputy Steve Tanner said. Both men were released on bond.
In Wyoming County, four men were arrested and charged Tuesday evening in connection with the theft of copper from the Webster Apartment building in Mullens, according to Police Chief Ray Toler.Alfred C. Lawson, of Oceana, was charged with grand larceny.
He was released on $5,000 bond, Toler said.Terry Clark Kennedy Jr., of Beckley, was charged with grand larceny, third-offense driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance. He remained at Southern Regional Jail Wednesday on $10,000 bond.Terry Clark Kennedy Sr., of Beckley, was charged with grand larceny. He was released on $5,000 bond.Wesley Scott Edwards, of Sophia, was charged with grand larceny, possession with intent to deliver and possession without a prescription.
He remained at Southern Regional Jail on $30,000 bond, Toler said.In the Raleigh County case, Tanner said Campbell and Gunnoe cut down and stole 750 feet of Verizon copper phone cable May 17 in the Colcord area. They also tore down the utility pole in the process. Replacing the cable and utility pole, plus labor, cost between $6,000 and $10,000.After the thefts, the two burned off the insulation and took the copper to a local recycling center for sale, Tanner said. Detective Cpl. Jim Canaday and Detective Dave Stafford, he said, then followed several leads which led them to the suspects.“It was absolutely outstanding police work,” Tanner said.
Constant copper thefts from utility poles and often-resulting phone service outages have plagued the Coal River Valley/Marsh Fork area.
There, cell phone service is spotty, at best, and affected residents have no way to contact emergency personnel when service is lost.Tanner believes phone outages in rural, isolated communities is downright life-threatening.“Someone could have an accident while cutting the grass, have a heart attack, get lost — and there’s no way to contact an ambulance or fire department,” he said. “It’s not like Beckley where you can make a cell call or run to the neighbor’s.”With copper prices soaring, Tanner said, authorities do not see such thefts ending. However, the sheriff’s department is working with businesses like Verizon to take precautionary measures, like having more secure utility lines.
“With copper being at this value, it’s easy money, regardless of the dangers to other people,” he said. “We don’t have a solution yet, but we want to make it more difficult for the thieves.”

Man indicted for rape at casino www.privateofficer.com

Man indicted for rape at casino http://www.privateofficer.com

Atlantic City NJ May 23 2008 A Philadelphia man was indicted Tuesday on charges he tried to rape a woman in a stairwell of an Atlantic City casino, county Prosecutor Ted Housel said.
John J. Aleksiejczyk, 44, who was last known to live in Philadelphia and the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, was indicted on charges of sexual assault and criminal restraint after a March attack in a stairwell at Caesars Atlantic City, Housel said.
The 37-year-old victim, whose name was not released, came to Philadelphia on a business trip from her home in California and made a trip to Atlantic City on March 9, Housel said.
The victim was looking for help in finding a friend’s lost slot-club card when Aleksiejczyk approached her, Atlantic City police said at the time. He led her into a stairwell, where he allegedly began to choke and sexually assault her.
The woman screamed, and casino worker Rodney Menz called security for help, police
said at the time. Security supervisors Anthony Morris and J.P. Singh interrupted the
attack and held Aleksiejczyk until police arrived to arrest him.
Aleksiejczyk was arrested in January 1998 when he approached a 15-year-old Canadian girl wandering on the casino floor at Resorts Atlantic City. He identified himself as a security officer and told the girl she looked too young to be on the casino floor. Her parents approached and agreed to let him escort her back to the room, but instead he took her to a bar and tried to order alcohol for her. A surveillance camera showed him pushing the girl against the wall of an elevator on the way up to her room.
In that incident, Aleksiejczyk pleaded guilty to fourth-degree child abuse and was sentenced to five years’ probation.
Aleksiejczyk remains in the Atlantic County Jail on $350,000 bail for the March incident, Housel said Tuesday

Man captured mismantling celltower for scrap www.privateofficer.com

Police capture man dismantling celltower to sell for scrap http://www.privateofficer.com

from NY Crimewire News
Nassau NY May 23 2008
Nassau police officers Wednesday afternoon caught a man in the act of dismantling two rooftop cell phone towers in Elmont and removing copper components — valuable as scrap metal — causing about $25,000 damage to the equipment, police said.
Mohammed Yassine, 28, of Hempstead Gardens Drive in West Hempstead, was arrested and charged with burglary in the 4:29 p.m. incident, police said.
The officers had stopped at a red light at Village Avenue and Elmont Road when they heard a crash and saw Yassine on the roof of a building at 570 Elmont Rd., police said.
The officers found that Yassine had been throwing copper cables and copper grounding plates off the roof, police said.Yassine disabled an alarm to an entrance to the roof to reach the AT&T and T. Mobile cell towers, police said.
The officers stopped Yassine as he left the building and found that he was carrying a set of bolt cutters in a bag, police said.
He ran away, and after chasing him on foot for a short distance the officers caught Yassine, who struggled to avoid arrest, police said.
Yassine was charged with one count each of burglary and resisting arrest and two felony counts of criminal mischief.
He faces arraignment Thursday at First District Court, Hempstead.

Judge arrested on illegal gun charges www.privateofficer.com

Judge arrested on illegal gun charges http://www.privateofficer.com

from the Mobile Press
Mobile Al May 23 2008
Federal agents Thursday arrested a suspended Clarke County judge in Mobile on firearms charges, accusing him of having as many as 30 guns despite a restraining order forbidding him from possessing any, according to authorities.
Stuart DuBose, who faces trial next month before the Alabama Court of the Judiciary on a host of ethics charges, stands accused of possession of a firearm by someone who is the subject of a restraining order and lying about that restraining order when he purchased a gun in Saraland last month.
DuBose made an initial appearance Thursday afternoon in Mobile’s federal court before U.S. Magistrate Judge Bert Milling Jr., who ordered DuBose jailed overnight until a preliminary hearing today. Prosecutors said they would seek a permanent order of detention based on their concern about his mental stability

Defense attorney Richard Shields criticized the decision to charge DuBose the week he returned home from a 30-day stint at a Pensacola substance abuse treatment center.
“All they’ve done is fanned a flame that didn’t need to be fanned,” he said.
If convicted of the possession charge, DuBose faces a maximum of 10 years in prison. The other charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. Under advisory sentencing guidelines, he likely would get less time if convicted.
Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms &Explosives arrested DuBose at his doctor’s office off Interstate 65 in Mobile. He was unarmed and did not try to run, said Mike Messinger, the resident agent in charge of the local ATF office.
Messinger said agents took a safe from DuBose’s home and discovered Thursday that it contained two revolvers. He said investigators still were looking for a rifle they believe the judge has.
Under federal law, DuBose is not allowed to have firearms because he is subject to a restraining order that a judge granted Allison DuBose in March as part of their divorce proceedings. Clarke County Sheriff Bobby Moore personally delivered the restraining order to DuBose on March 25. The order, which Clarke County Circuit Judge Thomas Baxter re-affirmed two weeks later, instructed DuBose to leave his home on Club Wiley Road and stay away from his wife.
Moore said he saw a bullet hole in a large-screen TV in the house when he served the order. In an interview, he said DuBose and his wife each blamed the other for the damage

He acted fine when I saw him,” Moore said. “Of course, he’s always acted fine when I see him. He didn’t throw a fit or anything.”
An affidavit filed by an ATF investigator relays information from a Jackson Police Department report alleging that DuBose fired shots near a geophysical exploration survey crew that was working close to a family farm on Stave Creek Road, where the judge has been living since he was evicted from his home.
The affidavit states that DuBose angrily asked on April 17 which crew member reported the gunfire over their heads. Jackson Police Officer Barry Fowler reported hearing a burst of 12 to 15 founds of fully automatic gunfire come from the direction of DuBose’s house, according to the document.

The officer found DuBose in the barn with a Colt .233-caliber machine gun, according to the criminal complaint. Officers also saw a .50-caliber Barrett rifle set up on a table and pointing toward a nearby church parking lot.
DuBose agreed to give the machine gun and 20 to 30 other firearms to his brother, Jackson Police Officer Lem DuBose. Officers let the judge keep two revolvers and a .22-caliber rifle after he complained that he had received threats during divorce proceedings and needed guns for protection.
During the visit, Judge DuBose made what officials described as veiled threats against Fowler, according to the document.
DuBose allegedly asked Fowler if he remembered a SWAT training exercise years ago in which DuBose had portrayed the “bad guy” and then said, “I killed everyone, do you remember? My point being that today if I had not wanted you to be here and (Jackson Police Chief) Charles Burge and all of the rest of you, you wouldn’t be.”
The following day, according to the affidavit, DuBose bought a Ruger 7mm-08 caliber bolt-action rifle from Quint’s Hardware & Sporting in Saraland. On a form asking him if he was subject to a restraining order, DuBose falsely answered “no,” the complaint alleges.
Sandra Williams, whose husband owns the store, said in an interview that the instant background check that she ran did not reveal the restraining order. In retrospect, she said, DuBose acted somewhat strangely.
“He had on gloves, and he never took the gloves off,” she said. “He kept them on even when he filled out the form.”
