GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. June 10 2008 Gwinnett County police said a man walked into a local radio station and tried to blow the building up Monday afternoon.
Police and fire department personnel responded to the incident at the Korean Media Group on Duluth Park Lane just after 3:30 p.m. Monday. The radio station AM 1080 is housed in the Duluth building.
Authorities said that a man walked into the radio station and set-off a device, possibly a molotov cocktail. Police said the man was standing too close and suffered severe burns. He was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center.
Another man inside the radio station was also injured. Kevin Kim, an anchor with the radio station said that the injured man was a visitor who was sitting in the lobby. He was transported to a local hospital.
Gwinnett County police and the Gwinnett Fire Department were called to the scene after receiving a 911 call about an explosion.
The fire caused by the explosion had already been extinguished when officials arrived. The fire caused only slight damage to the building.
Duluth police said the suspect is a former employee who was fired two months ago but have not released his name.
Police do say that they expect to charge him with numerous felonies when he is released from the hospital and that federal authorities may be called in to investigate.
