Petaluma CA June 17 2008
A Santa Rosa woman, suspected of petty theft at an eastside Petaluma department store, threatened security officers with a hypodermic syringe and then tried to choke herself on a patrol car seat belt, police reported.
Karissa Grimwood, also known as Karissa White, 20, was in custody in Sonoma County Jail, suspected of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, petty theft, vandalism and violating her probation.
Officers went to Kohl’s Sunday at about 1:30 p.m. for a call of a petty theft. While officers were on the way, the suspect pulled out a syringe and held it in a threatening manner toward the guards, Sgt. Jim Stephenson said.
After being taken into custody, the handcuffed woman was placed in the back of a patrol car. The woman then wrapped a seat belt around her neck multiple times, Stephenson said.
Officers had to cut the belt from her neck because it was wrapped so tightly. Stephenson said she wasn’t injured and was taken to jail.
She was wanted on a $25,000 arrest warrant. With the new charges, her bail was set at at $55,000.
