An employee at China Star restaurant in St Petersburg is in critical condtion after getting shot twice in the back.It happened around 10:30 Monday night on 22nd Avenue South in the Sweetbay strip mall.
A security guard on duty at the store found the victim and called 911.
Authorities are saying right now that the shooting was a result of a robbery and they’re not sure was caused the robber to open fire on the victim.
There were other people inside the restaurant but it took authorities awhile to get details on the suspect due to the language barrier.Authorities were able to locate a suspect and chased him to the Paradise Apartment down the road but then lost him.
Officers searched the area but could not relocate the suspect. The victim is in critical condition at Bayfront Medical Center. It’s not clear right now where the security officer was when the robbery took place or if he was armed or not.
Call St. Petersburg Police if you have any information.

A woman accused of attempting to kidnap two young girls from the Salt Lake Main Library Wednesday was arrested Friday near the library.
Terryette Woods, 51, was spotted near the TRAX station on 400 South across from the library and arrested without incident. She was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of two counts of kidnapping, a first-degree felony.
About 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, a woman approached two sisters, 8 and 5, inside the library, grabbed their wrists and started walking toward the exit. Just as the 8-year-old was about to yell for help, they spotted a security guard. The woman let go of the children’s wrists and continued walking out the door.
The woman was spotted near the TRAX station a short time later by another library security guard. He thought, however, that it could have been a man dressed in drag. After reviewing surveillance video from the library, however, Salt Lake police detective Jeff Bedard said another security guard recognized the woman as someone who frequently hung out at the library and the surrounding area.
Investigators knew the woman’s name Thursday night and began looking for her, Bedard said
After she was arrested and taken to Salt Lake police headquarters for questioning, she was taken to a patrol car that transported her to jail. While being led out to the car, Woods told reporters that none of the witnesses to the crime would be able to identify her.
“They can’t identify me because I didn’t do it,” she said.. “I wasn’t even there.”
Woods, originally from St. Louis, also told reporters that she had kids of her own.
Bedard said, however, that detectives had conducted a “thorough” investigation, and based on witness statements and other evidence, there is sufficient probable cause to arrest her.
“We’ve talked to everybody we believe has information or knowledge on this case,” he said.
Woods was arrested in July 2007 for investigation of abusing the 911 emergency system, according to investigators

Federal correction officer stabbed to death http://www.privateofficer.com
According to federal authorities, the officer was stabbed by an inmate at the prison in Atwater in Merced County.
Correctional officer, Jose Rivera, 22, was stabbed by an inmate around 4 p.m. Friday afternoon.
It is unknown at this time what kind of weapon the inmate used to stab the corrections officer.
Atwater U.S.P is a relatively new facility, located on the grounds of the former castle air force base. The facility houses more than 1100 inmates, and is classified as a ‘high security’ institution which means it has the highest staff-to-inmate ratio of all federal penitentiaries
At this time, federal authorities are not saying if they have the assailant in custody but said their investigation is continuing.

Security officer atttacked, man tries to get gun http://www.privateofficer.com
Police say that a private security officer working at the Greyhound bus station should be commended for holding off an assailant who tried to take her gun.
Cpl. Paul Mouton, spokesman for the Lafayette Police Department, said a security guard at the station was physically attacked for unknown reasons about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Sidney John Handy, 36, of Lafayette, allegedly approached the 38-year-old security guard and attempted to disarm her.
Mouton said the guard was able to keep control of her weapon.
“It sounds like she held her own,” Mouton said.
Police said Handy ran away from the scene after he failed to disarm the guard.
Lafayette police located him near the Jefferson Street underpass shortly afterward.
Mouton said Handy was first taken to the hospital before being released for incarceration.
He was arrested for simple battery, aggravated assault and resisting an officer.
Mouton said the reason for the attack remains unknown and he did not know of any connection to the attack and ongoing controversy surrounding Greyhound.
That controversy involves Greyhound’s decision to build a station on Moss Street, leaving its Lee Avenue location.
The City-Parish Council recently voted to repeal a zoning change for the site. However, the company said it plans to continue construction at the site until it is legally blocked from doing so.
