Five AZ. officers fall from Interstate bridge during suicide rescue www.privateofficer.com
At least 5 police officers were pulled off of a freeway overpass and onto Interstate 10 as they tried to save a man who was attempting suicide late Tuesday morning.
The officers suffered cuts and bruises with the early reports stating the most serious injuries were broken bones, according to Lt. James Warriner, a Department of Public Safety spokesman.
The incident closed traffic on the freeway for less than an hour Tuesday.
The man climbed on to the 16th Street overpass and officers responded shortly before 11 a.m.
The man was hanging over the railing on the west side of the overpass when he fell.
The officers and the man attempting to jump were taken to Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center.
Police scheduled a press conference late Tuesday morning to provide more details.
