A security officer at Andrews University became the subject of first an internal investigation and then a police arrest and is facing charges for allegedly stealing some laptop computers from the school.
Berrien Springs police said that they were notified of the theft after the school security staff began getting reports of missing computers.
Officers arrested 22 year-old Yashesh Makawa who is employed with the university public safety department after complaints about the missing laptops were turned over to them a few weeks ago.
Police said that Makawa is a citizen of India and works for the Andrews Public Safety Department, and he’s accused of stealing five laptops in all.
He was lodged in the Berrien County Jail on charges of concealing stolen property.
Authorities did not know that status of Makawa’s visa or if he would be deported.
