Police say that they have busted a shoplifter in Orem, and officers believe that he’s responsible for more than just one shoplifting incident.
Police say that they think he’s the one that’s been running out of a number of stores with thousands of dollars in clothing.
A security officer noticed a guy running out of the Mervyn’s store at the University Mall with a bag stuffed with Levi’s jeans.
When the security agent approached the man in the parking lot, the suspect, Jesus Arturo Flores-Grandandos of West Valley, dropped the bag and ran across the parking lot. He then went through a gate and into a small orchard, where he was tackled by the security officer and taken into custody and brought back to the store.
“His method was simply to stash in the bag and head for the door,” said Orem police Lt. Doug Edwards.
Edwards says officers also found bags full Levi’s and children’s clothing in the suspect’s car worth more than $2,000. Some of the stolen items were from stores in Sandy, and police think he might have hit stores in Ogden as well.
Flores-Grandandos is now in jail for felony shoplifting and has an immigration hold on him for being an undocumented immigrant.
