Houston security officer shoots, kills armed man www.privateofficer.com
Houston security officer shoots, kills armed man http://www.privateofficer.com
It happened near the Houston Ship Channel just after 1 a.m.
Investigators believe a security officer who was on duty at the Maria Bonita Tavern prevented a patron from entering, and an argument ensued.
Both the security guard and the patron reportedly pulled out weapons and started shooting.
After the shots were fired, the patron, who had sustained a bullet wound, returned to his car and left the scene. He drove a few blocks before careening into a ditch where a passing motorist found him and called 911.
Now police are asking questions as they conduct their investigation into whether this was a case of justified self-defense or a serious case of assault and murder by the security officer.
Police found the wounded man there and rushed him to Ben Taub, where he later died.
Police have yet to determine if charges will be filed against the security guard.

Security officer shoots, kills armed man www.privateofficer.com
Security officer shoots, kills armed man http://www.privateofficer.com
Chicago Heights police said Tuesday that they don’t expect to file charges in the shooting death early Sunday of a 20-year-old man because he had fired shots during a brawl outside a nightclub, hitting three people.
Johnathan Williams, of Hazel Crest, was shot by a security guard during a ruckus outside the Esoteric club after he fired the shots, wounding one man critically, police said.
Police Lt. Michael Romano said a bouncer did not let Williams in the club, 150 Joe Orr Road, because he had caused a problem a week before. Williams later managed to get inside the 17-and-older club, where a fight broke out some time later and spilled into the parking lot, with frantic patrons trying to escape, Romano said.
Williams pulled a gun and began firing wildly, according to police.
“I don’t know if he had a specific target, but he was shooting toward the front door,” leading the security guard to decide to shoot him, Romano said.
He said Williams’ shots grazed two people and struck Darius Bell, 19, of Hazel Crest, in the chest.
Bell on Tuesday night remained in critical condition at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Three days into the investigation of the shootings, police have yet to recover the gun that Williams allegedly used. And they haven’t tracked down the bouncer who fired the shots.
That’s left Lorna Barrios, whose son was Williams’ best friend and was with him when he was gunned down, wondering where the accountability is. She said Williams began shooting when he saw her son being attacked.
“(The security guard) disappears, and no one can find him?” the Homewood mother said.
Romano said police are actively searching for the bouncer but so far have been unable to locate him.
Rumors are swirling that the guard is an off-duty police officer from another town, but Romano said that’s not so.
After the shootings, Chicago Heights officials shut down the club and suspended its liquor license. Mayor Anthony DeLuca said he wants the club to remain closed.
Club owner Victor Tieri, who was planning to sell the club before Sunday’s incident, said a promoter hired the armed security guards who worked at the club that night.
Barrios contends that the measures didn’t go far enough.
“If they had adequate security in that place, it wouldn’t have happened,” she said. “They would have broke (the fight) up and kept it moving. … This is a tragedy.”

Security officer attacked, robbed, gun stolen www.privateofficer.com
Security officer attacked, robbed http://www.privateofficer.com
Orlando police said the security guard was patroling the complex when his attackers roughed him up then stole his gun and his taser.
The security officer managed to get away and ran to an apartment for help. The suspects tried to shoot the guard with the taser, but missed and drove off, sideswiping the security officer’s car.
Residents said the security gate to the complex has been broken for weeks, and it is too expensive to fix. One tenant said she isn’t surprised the robbery happened.
“Someone got robbed last Wednesday with a gun. Two months ago a pregnant lady got robbed with a gun,” said resident Mabel Lopez.
Police said the security guard has non-life threatening injuries and unfortunately he did not get a good look at the get away car.
Police did not release the name of the injured security officer or the name of his employer.

12 YR Old Found With Assault Rifle www.privateofficer.com
12 Yr Old Found With Assault Rifle http://www.privateofficer.com
Police were dispatched to a residence in the 1900 block of Catalpa Drive sometime after 10 p.m. on numerous reports of shots fired, Dayton Lt. John Bardun said.
Officers looked in a window of the residence and witnessed the boy carrying an SKS assault rifle, Bardun said, noting that an initial investigation revealed the boy had been in the backyard earlier in the evening, firing the weapon.
Officers found proof of that, locating 10 to 15 spent shell casings in the yard near children’s play equipment, Bardun said.
Police dispatch then issued a “99″ — officer needs assistance.
Several officers responded to the address, forced entry to the residence, wrestled their way past an adult and seized the rifle, a 50-round clip and numerous handguns, Bardun said. There were several open bottles of vodka throughout the house, he said.
No one was hurt. No charges were immediately filed, but the adults and young people were taken to police headquarters downtown for questioning. The adults were being held pending charges of child endangerment.
Betty Venters, a neighbor, said, “I don’t know what they are thinking, firing off guns right near a daycare center.”
She spoke while holding her 18-month-old baby.
Ironically, Bardun said the front door to the residence featured a emblem depicting the picture of a handgun and the words, “We aren’t calling 9-1-1.”
