MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. Aug 16 2008 — A man who works as a security guard in south Miami-Dade County has been arrested in connection with a pair of attacks on women in the Westchester area.
Police said Sherard Marquis Henderson attacked a 63-year-old woman inside her home July 13.
The 26-year-old security guard allegedly wasn’t successful and then ran away. Police said he returned to the woman’s home last Friday night, broke in and attempted to rape her again
Surveillance video from a nearby 7-Eleven shortly after the attack shows the suspect inside the store. It also shows his alleged getaway vehicle — a Suzuki Grand Vitara with damage to the driver’s side door — in the parking lot.
Police also think he could be responsible for another attack July 15. A 27-year-old woman walking her dog in the same neighborhood gave a similar description of her attacker.
Henderson is charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation of an elderly woman and two counts of occupied burglary with assault. He was being held at the Turner-Guilford-Knight Correctional Center.
This is not the first time Henderson has been arrested on charges of attacking an elderly woman. In 2005, he agreed to a pre-trial intervention program and was not prosecuted.

Texas town will allow teachers to carry guns on campus www.privateofficer.com

Texas town will allow teachers to carry guns on campus http://www.privateofficer.com

Harrold TX. August 16 2008

//from www.foxnews.com//

A tiny Texas school district may be the first in the nation to pass a law specifically allowing teachers and staff to pack heat when classes begin later this month.
Trustees at the Harrold Independent School District approved a district policy change last October so employees can carry concealed firearms to deter and protect against school shootings, provided the gun-toting teachers follow certain requirements.
Superintendent David Thweatt told FOXNews.com the policy was initiated because of safety concerns.
“We have had employees assaulted before by people in the last several years,” Thweatt said. “I think that safety is big concern. We are seeing a lot of anger in society.”
He wouldn’t comment further on the nature of the assaults.
The Texas superintendent linked gun-free zones with the uprising of school shootings in recent years.
“When you make schools gun-free zones, it’s like inviting people to come in and take advantage,” Thweatt told FOXNews.com.
In order for teachers and staff to carry a pistol, they must have a Texas license to carry a concealed handgun; must be authorized to carry by the district; must receive training in crisis management and hostile situations and must use ammunition that is designed to minimize the risk of ricochet in school halls.
Thweatt said the small community is a 30-minute drive from the sheriff’s office, leaving students and teachers without protection. He said the district’s lone campus sits 500 feet from heavily trafficked U.S. 287, which could make it a target.
The kindergarten through 12th grade school district is home to 110 students.
Thweatt said officials researched the policy and considered other options for about a year before approving the policy change. He said the district also has various other security measures in place to prevent a school shooting.
“The naysayers think [a shooting] won’t happen here,” Thweatt said. “If something were to happen here, I’d much rather be calling a parent to tell them that their child is OK because we were able to protect them.”
He told FOXNews.com he doesn’t think students will think twice about the new policy.
“I hope they forget all about it,” he said. “We want them to pay attention [to their school work].”
Texas law outlaws firearms on school campuses “unless pursuant to the written regulations or written authorization of the institution.”
While the district’s plan shot them into the national spotlight, carrying guns to school is nothing new some states. In Utah, the law allows anyone with a permit to carry a gun in public schools and state institutions of higher education.
It was unclear how many of the 50 or so teachers and staff members will be armed this fall because Thweatt did not disclose that information, to keep it from students or potential attackers.
Wilbarger County Sheriff Larry Lee did not immediately return a call placed to his office by FOXNews.com.
Barbara Williams, a spokeswoman for the Texas Association of School Boards, said her organization did not know of another district with such a policy. Ken Trump, a Cleveland-based school security expert who advises districts nationwide, including in Texas, said Harrold is the first district with such a policy.
The district is 150 miles northwest of Fort Worth on the eastern end of Wilbarger County, near the Oklahoma border.

12 Yr old drives mom to bar www.privateofficer.com

12 Yr old drives mom to bar http://www.privateofficer.com

LONGVIEW, TX Aug 16 2008 – A 35-year-old Texas woman has been jailed after police say she made her 12-year-old daughter drive her to a bar.
Police in Longview say they watched a minivan turn into a driveway without signaling on Wednesday and bump into a home at a low speed. They say the car was driven by Jennifer Lynn Rosenberg’s daughter.
Police say the girl told an officer she had just dropped her mother off at a bar. They say they found Rosenberg at the bar and that she admitted having her daughter drive her there.
Rosenburg remains in the Gregg County Jail on a $2,500 bond. A jail official declined to say whether she had an attorney.
A spokeswoman for Child Protective Services told the Longview News-Journal that the agency is investigating.

Ski-Day on the Ohio is a huge yearly event that draws the river rats down to the river for one more big day of fun on the river before everyone heads back to school.
According to its promos, this was their 30th anniversary holding the boating party on the Ohio River. Policed by numerous local and state agencies, it’s usually mild and although we get some alcohol violations, it’s managable said a state officer.
But for one private security officer it turned out to be more than he bargained for according to police.
He was on one of the islands in the river near a stage when he asked several men to get away from the area.
That’s when David Mullen said they attacked him and beat him with a two-by-four leaving him with a broken jaw and other injuries.
Now the Henderson sheriff’s department is asking witnesses to come forward. Mullen has worked security for the event for the past four years, and has always enjoyed it–but this year, things took a turn for the worse
Four hours after the attack Mullen said that he was able to get off the island and to a hospital. His jaw had to be wired shut, and will remain that way for about 3 months. Mullen has worked security for Ski Day for four years, and has never experienced any problems until now. He says he was the sole security officer on the island Saturday night, and feels security needs beefing up. The Henderson Sheriff’s Department is now investigating the incident, and ask anyone with information about the alleged assailants to come forward.
The suspects are described as 2 white males between the age of 18 and 21. One is about 5’6 and weighs 200 lbs. He has brown hair and was wearing yellow shorts. The other also has brown hair and was wearing blue shorts.

Family of girl kidnaps, tortures boyfriend www.privateofficer.com

Family of girl kidnaps, tortures boyfriend http://www.privateofficer.com

Atlanta GA Aug 16 2008
An Atlanta teenager told police that he was kidnapped by his girlfriend’s relatives and taken to an apartment, where he was beaten, choked and burned with a cigarette because they want him to stop seeing her, according to a police report.
Darius Aimey, 17, said he was tortured at a southwest Atlanta apartment for more than four hours, from the evening of Aug. 5 to early the next morning, according to the Atlanta police report. He suffered swelling to his left eye, jaw, knee, arm and burns to his left arm and back along with other abrasions and bruises, the report said.
The reason for the prolonged beating, according to the victim: His girlfriend’s mother doesn’t want Aimey to date her daughter and doesn’t believe he’s good enough for her.
An Atlanta police spokesman, James Polite, said he could not determine Thursday evening whether police have made any arrests in the case. The names of the suspects were withheld by police.
Aimey was walking in the 2000 block of Fairburn Road when his girlfriend’s brother, mother and the mother’s boyfriend pulled up in a silver Ford Taurus, he reported. The three grabbed him and put him into the car.
The two men dropped off the mother at her home, but before she got out, Aimey said she told the two men: “Take him somewhere and kill him.”
The men put a shirt over Aimey’s head and took him to an unidentified apartment where more men were waiting inside. They tied him to a chair and started out by beating him with a hammer and a 9mm handgun, the victim told police.
Then, Aimey recounted, seven men took turns punching the teen, landing blows to his stomach and face, the report said.
His girlfriend’s brother put a belt around his neck and choked him, and burned him on the arm and back with a cigarette, the victim reported.
“We told you to leave [the girlfriend] alone,” the mother’s boyfriend told Aimey, according to the report. “You better take this as a lesson.”
The suspects eventually dropped him off on the road where they found him. He sought treatment for his injuries at South Fulton Hospital.
When reached by phone, Aimey declined to comment on the incident
