Security guard charged with child sexual assault http://www.privateofficer.com
Kenosha WI Sept 5 2008
A security guard at a school has been charged with child sexual assault, among more than a dozen other alleged crimes.
John R. Clark is a guard at Indian Trail Academy.
According to the Kenosha News, a criminal complaint states that he allegedly made a threat to kill the family of a student if she told anyone about how he sexually assaulted her five times.
He allegedly found the girl on MySpace and sent messages saying she was “hot,” “sexy” and “he wanted her to be his.”
The complaint says she told the principal about the alleged assault and police investigators were called in. Police say that they tracked the internet moves of Clark and with other documentation sought an arrest warrant for him.
Clark faces 15 charges – five of second degree sexual assault of a child, five of child enticement and five of exposing himself to a child.
If he’s convicted, he faces a sentence that could exceed 200 years in prison.

Police capture robbery suspects at NJ mall http://www.privateofficer.com
BRIDGEWATER NJ Sept 5 2008 —Arrests have been made in connection with a second robbery at the Bridgewater Commons mall.
Davon Cody, 18, and a 17-year-old boy have been charged with the armed robbery of a 17-year-old mall worker in a parking lot by Macy’s at about 11:16 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, police said.
Police also said Wednesday that three of the four suspects in a robbery earlier that night inside the mall that night were affiliated with the Bloods street gang.
“This was excellent police work,” Bridgewater police Chief Richard Borden said yesterday about the arrests. “It was a very diligent investigation.”
Borden said the police department “will not tolerate” the types of crimes that occurred at the mall, noting that the police department has a good working relationship with mall security, who cooperated with police on the robberies.
Cody, who was also charged with aggravated assault, is in Somerset County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail set by state Superior Court Judge Harriet Derman, sitting in Somerville.
The juvenile has been lodged in the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center in North Brunswick.
Both Cody and the juvenile were residents at Passages, a supervised group home for temporarily displaced youths on Fourth Avenue, police said.
Police said a 17-year-old mall employee was walking to her car in the parking lot on the south side of Macy’s when she was confronted by Cody and the juvenile.
Cody knocked the girl to the ground and took her purse, police said.
The girl was taken to Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, where she was treated and released for bruises and cuts. She received seven stitches, police said.
The girl weighs about 100 to 110 pounds and Cody weighs 235 pounds, said Detective Sgt. Gerard Nunery.
The girl had been talking to her father on a cell phone as she was walking to her car and had just finished the call when Cody and the juvenile approached her, police said.
Police have recovered the purse, according to an affidavit filed in state Superior Court.
This was the first purse snatching at the Commons in more than two years, Borden said.
However, it was the second robbery Friday night at the mall.
Two men and two juveniles, all from Somerville, have been charged with robbing $2 in quarters from four youths at the Bridgewater Commons.
Ken Gordon, 19, Frankey Lewis-Gomez, 21, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were arrested in connection with the first robbery at the mall.
One of the adults and two of the juveniles were affiliated with the Bloods street gang, police said.
The suspects in the second robbery had no gang affiliation, police said.
In the first robbery, the four suspects approached and surrounded a group of four juveniles at the mall and asked them for money, according to a Superior Court affidavit.
After the juveniles denied having any money, two juveniles walked away but the other two could not pass the suspects. Gordon then asked the remaining two juveniles again for money and said, “money is money, it’s not worth it,” the affidavit stated.
One juvenile then gave Gordon $2 in quarters, according to the affidavit.
Twenty minutes later, the suspects approached the four youths again in the mall’s food court and Gordon again asked for money. After the youths again denied having money, Gordon asked one of the youths for his earring and made a threatening statement, the affidavit said.
When the youth refused to hand over the earring, he then alerted mall security and called police, who responded and arrested the suspects, the affidavit indicate.
Gordon is being held in Somerset County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail set by Superior Court Judge Thomas Dilts while Lewis-Gomez is being held at the jail on $50,000 bail.

Police officer charged with aggravated rape http://www.privateofficer.com
LaFollette TN Sept 5 2008
Authorities say the offer sounded simple but chilling.
“She was driving on a revoked license, and he made a deal that he wouldn’t arrest her if she did the evil deed for him,” LaFollette Police Chief Ben Baird said. “He told her she had to have sex with him, and he’d let her go. I guess the arrest went the other way.”
Jeremy S. Cross turned himself in Tuesday to face charges of raping a woman at gunpoint during a traffic stop.
A Campbell County grand jury indicted Cross, a former LaFollette police officer, last week on charges of aggravated rape, official oppression and two counts of official misconduct.
Cross had worked for the department for about three years when he pulled the woman’s car over July 5 on North Tennessee Avenue, Baird said.
Authorities said Cross forced the woman to have sex with him behind some warehouses on nearby Howard Armstrong Lane under threat of arrest if she refused.
“There was a patrol rifle in the seat, and he would have been carrying his service weapon,” the chief said. “He apparently cut his (incruiser video) camera off, which is a violation of our rules and regulations.”
Baird said he called in the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation the same day he learned of the woman’s complaint.
“It happened on a Friday,” the chief said. “She filed her complaint on Monday around 2 p.m. By 4 p.m., we had the TBI investigating.”
He said he didn’t know whether TBI agents recovered DNA evidence from either car.
Cross resigned soon after the investigation began. He’d previously worked as a deputy in neighboring Scott County and had no history of discipline problems other than a few minor write-ups for such offenses as showing up late for court, the chief said.
“I’m going to send a message to everybody that I don’t tolerate this sort of behavior from anybody. It’s a stain on everybody who wears a badge up here.
“We have 20 other people in this department, and most everybody here is very professional. If they’re not, I don’t keep them long.”
Cross remains free on $50,000 bond.
He could make his first court appearance Sept. 8.

http://www.privateofficer.com/ — Four evacuees from Hurricane Gustav are in jail in Atlanta Friday, charged with stealing high-priced blue jeans from two Buckhead stores.
Police said the suspects, three men and a woman, all from New Orleans, stole high priced jeans from the Luna boutique on Peachtree Road Thursday afternoon, walking into the store and grabbing all the jeans they could.
Officers say that they were notified of the theft in the Buckhead area and were on the alert for a Pontiac G-6 spotted leaving the first scene.
A few minutes later, police saw the Pontiac outside the Brazil Fine Italian Menswear in the 1800 block of Peachtree Road, just three miles from the first scene.
Officers moved in and said that they arrested the suspects as they were in the process of loading jeans from the high-priced store into the car.
Police spokesman James Polite said the four, all between the ages of 19 and 20, will be charged with felony theft by taking. Police did not immediately release their identities.
He says the designer jeans, priced from $250 and up, were strewn throughout the car.

Alert security officer’s tip leads to major drug bust http://www.privateofficer.com
Denver CO Sept 5 2008
The North Metro Drug Task Force broke up a meth lab in Northglenn on Wednesday night and is crediting an alert security officer for the original tip.
“Once they got inside, they found a pretty substantial lab,” Sgt. Rick Reigenborn said of the raid on the home at East 110th Avenue and Pearl Street in Northglenn.
Six people were taken into custody, and a 9-year-old was transported to Adams County Social Services.
A woman in her 70s and the child, both living upstairs, had been put in danger from the toxic fumes emanating from the basement lab, Reigenborn said.
One person facing charges remains at large, he said.
“We found finished product, ready for distribution or use,” he said.
A security officer at a store that sells the cold tablets that are a main ingredient in crystal methamphetamine “was smart enough to notice that the same individual kept coming back to pick up ingredients needed for manufacture,” Reigenborn said.
“An astute person paying attention to those things” was the key to getting an address and building the case, he said.
“Detectives started doing follow-up work, and we got enough information and evidence to get a search warrant to get us into the house,” Reigenborn said.
Raiding meth labs is dangerous, because often the people inside have weapons at the ready.
So, task force members set off a diversionary explosion just before entering the house, he noted.
Some neighbors were worried that the noise was a gunshot. But no injuries occurred during the raid.
“We will be charging at least two, maybe three, people who were living in the house,” Reigenborn said.
Charges should be coming from the Adams County District Attorney by sometime Monday.
The house has been condemned, so no one can get back inside, regardless of whether they were innocent or active in the drug manufacture, he said.
One of the people arrested has been taken into custody on an unrelated charge. A woman living in the house was released pending formal charges.
The mother of the 9-year-old may face child abuse charges.
Neighbors apparently were unaware of illegal activity going on inside the house.

Security officer rescues injured kite-surfer http://www.privateofficer.com

Alameda CA. Sept 5 2008
A security officer for the Harbor Bay Isle Homeowners’ Association pulled an injured kite-surfer from the water as the surfer’s family watched in fear. The rescue took place the afternoon of Aug. 16 along the San Leandro Channel and picnic area of Sea View Parkway, where several families had been relaxing and picnicking.
Officer Andrew McAdams was on patrol training a new security officer, Jacob Ambrecht, when some dozen people frantically flagged down the vehicle, reporting a kite-surfer in distress in the waterway. McAdams could see a male kite-surfer, Rodel Anicete of Hayward, entangled in his equipment. Anicete was being pulled into the air by his kite at times as high as 20 feet above the water level, then back into the water. The surfer was clearly in trouble and was calling for help.
“I instructed him to cut away,” meaning to pull the emergency quick release cord, said McAdams in a phone interview this week.

But the cord was wrapped around the surfer’s leg, he said. “I was worried,” as the surfer headed toward the rocks along the shore, McAdams said.
McAdams ran along the shoreline path discarding equipment and parts of his uniform as he ran. He entered the water and swam to the surfer’s location. Anicete was exhausted and had severe cramping in his leg and was unable to swim. McAdams grabbed him by his kite harness and towed him to safety on the south side of the channel, where Ambrecht and others helped them from the water. “When he got back to the rocks, I stepped into the water, pulled the kite surfer (out), and then helped” his partner,” said Ambrecht. “It was all over really quick.”
Both attending officers said the large number of picnickers in the area were helpful in getting aid to Anicete. “(There) was a big party, and two additional parties (nearby),” said Ambrecht, 24, who has been in training for about three months.

The park is a “popular place along the shoreline. We have a lot of people there jogging, walking,” he said. Despite the number of kite-surfers and boaters who frequent the area, there are not many reported accidents. “You don’t ever expect it to happen in Alameda,” added Albrecht.
Anicete later told the officers that he would not be alive today had McAdams not pulled him from the water.
Afterwards, McAdams, 25, was humble about his rescue. “I’m a decent swimmer,” he said. “I’m just glad he was OK.”
McAdams has been a member of the Community of Harbor Bay Isle Security for one year. He served his country as a member of the United States Coast Guard for five years where he received water rescue training. He continues his service as a member of the Coast Guard Reserves, and hopes to become a police officer in the future. McAdams is married and lives in Alameda.
