Police seek fleeing shoplifter www.privateofficer.com
FRANKLIN, Tenn. Sept 9 2008 Police are looking for a woman who is accused of shoplifting at a Cool Springs toy store and nearly injuring a young child.
A woman who only wanted to be identified as Cathy for this story said she took a trip to the toy store with her kids.
What Cathy and her husband didn’t realize is that when they parked their car in front of the store, according to police, there was a shoplifting incident taking place inside
Cathy suddenly said she saw three women running out of the store.
“The ladies got closer. We saw they were coming right to the car closest to us and boxes were dropped as they were running, and it became clear what was happening. There was a man from the toy store running after them,” said Cathy.
That’s when Cathy said events got out of her control and put her 7-year-old child in danger.
“The women jumped into the car. One of them jumped in as it started to move and pulled out of the parking space so quickly. As they were turning the corner, my oldest child was standing here, and they came within 2 to 3 feet of hitting her with their vehicle,” said Cathy.
Police said the alleged shoplifter, Tiffany Redmon, was driving the car that nearly hit Cathy’s 7-year old daughter.
Franklin police said Redmon was trying to leave the store’s parking lot as fast she could. Police said it was her second shoplifting attempt in two weeks.
“Why were they in the parking lot when they could have hit and struck my daughter if this happened two weeks ago,” said Cathy.
Cathy said she was also angered because the accused shoplifters were laughing during the incident.
Redmon was last seen driving a white 2003 Chevrolet Impala. The public is urged to call police if they can help in the investigation.
