http://www.privateofficer.com/ An off –duty security officer is credited with stopping a robbery of himself and an area gas station overnight.
Police said that the overnight robbery attempt ended in gunfire that could have resulted in the death of several people had the security officer not taken immediate action. Investigators said the quick thinking off-duty security guard stopped the robbery.
Investigators say Jamie Sullivan, 37, was shot and killed by the security officer at a Mapco market on Murfreesboro Road during an attempted robbery.

Investigators say Jamie Sullivan, 37, was shot and killed by the security officer at a Mapco market on Murfreesboro Road during an attempted robbery.
Police said that the security officer, Eric Gordon, 22, did not work for the store and had just stopped there to buy gas.
“While at the counter paying, a suspect approached him from behind and was armed with a pistol attempting to rob him and the business. A gun fight ensued between the security guard and the suspect, and the suspect was killed during the gunbattle ,” said Captain Harmon Hunsicker, Metro Police.
Sullivan was shot in the face and died at the scene. Police say Sullivan had an extensive arrest record. The shooting is officially being called a justifiable homicide.
