Three men and a teenager were arrested Saturday morning, accused of robbing a pizza deliveryman and forcing a standoff with SWAT officers, Tucson police said.
Police arrested Shawn C. Sells Jr., 20, Anthony Cronin, 20, Jerome Cipriano, 25 and a teenage male in connection with the robbery and the ensuing standoff, said Sgt. Fabian Pacheco, a Police Department spokesman.
Pacheco did not release the name and age of the teenager, nor the charges he’s facing, for investigative reasons. The three men are facing numerous charges, including armed robbery, aggravated robbery and felony drug charges, he said.
No one was injured, but the suspects took the man’s pizza, he said.
Pacheco gave this account of the incident:
At about 12:40 a.m., a Domino’s Pizza deliveryman attempted a delivery to an apartment complex in the 2600 block of North Oracle Road, near West Glenn Street, but the residents denied ordering the pizza.
When the deliveryman returned to his car, which was parked nearby in the 200 block of West Jacinto Street, he encountered four individuals there.
The men tried to rob him, but the deliveryman took off and the men fired several shots at him.
The men also shot at a security guard at the apartment complex who witnessed the robbery.
A few minutes later, police arrived and three of the men surrendered, but the teenager refused to come out of the house.
Special Weapons and Tactics officers and hostage negotiators were called to the house at about 5:30 a.m., and the teen finally came out about two hours later.
Investigators served a search warrant on the house, and recovered a shotgun and three handguns, Pacheco said.
