Thieves break into Brink’s office :o nly steal coins http://www.privateofficer.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio Jan 19 2009
BY: Rick McCann
http://www.privateofficer.com/ The Columbus police and area FBI agents are investigating an overnight heist into a Brink’s office in Columbus.
Authorities were notified of a break-in and found that thieves used a blowtorch to cut a hole on the roof of the armored car office and made off with a large number of coins that included rolls of Susan B. Anthony dollars.
Special Agent Harry Trombitas would only say that the amount taken was significant but also said whoever broke into the office Saturday night or Sunday morning missed millions of dollars in paper money.
Authorities believe it took several hours for the thieves to remove the coins.
Columbus firefighters were called to the scene at about 11 a.m. on Sunday because of a fire inside the building. Fire investigators believe that the torch caused the fire and are also investigating.
