Loss prevention agents at a local Target store have arrested an employee for theft and conspiracy.
Cheryl Jean Mizak, 52, of the 4N100 block of Kenwood Avenue in West Chicago, was arrested Saturday and charged after repeated thefts while working as a cashier, according to store investigators.
The police report indicates Mizak used two different methods to steal. One was having a friend come to her register to buy items with coupons. Mizak would scan the coupons twice to lower the sale prices beyond what they would normally be.
.The second method was having a friend pay for items with Mizak’s Target debit card and request cash back. Mizak would then give the friend more cash than was requested.
Store security agents began investigating the thefts and took Mizk into custody and notified police.
The total amount the store lost was about $1,345.
