Des Moines police arrested four juveniles at Moulton Elementary School after a report of a break in at the school Saturday night.

A Des Moines school district security officer noticed desks in the school’s office riffled at about 8:30 p.m. and called police for assistance.

The security officer told police that he had heard “drops” and other noises on the third floor of the building while on patrol.Police surrounded the building at 1541 8th St. at about 8:45 p.m.
Officers noticed a broken window on the buildings southeast corner. Police entered the building with school security officers and searched floor-by-floor.

Just before 9 p.m., an officer radio dispatch and shouted, “We’ve got one running on the third floor!”Police quickly apprehended four juveniles, whose names and ages were not immediately available.Police said one of the suspects sent a text message to his parents from inside the building.

Parents were at the school talking with officers at the time of the arrests.
