Alabama police investigate quadruple murder scene www.privateofficer.com
Greenhill AL April 7 2009
timesdaily.com Investigators are searching for a Morgan County man who they say is a “person of interest” in an early morning shooting that left four people dead at a Greenhill residence.
Details of the shooting are still sketchy, but officials have confirmed four people are dead.
Names of the victims have not been released.
The residence is on Lauderdale 73, near the Heritage Chase subdivision in the rural Lauderdale County community.
Travis Clemons, chief investigator for the sheriff’s office, said authorities are looking for Kevin Garner.
Garner and his wife, Tammy, are scheduled for a divorce hearing in Morgan County on Wednesday morning, based on courthouse records.
His wife’s green Subaru Legacy has been found burned in the Morgan County community of Somerville, authorities said. They added that the couple’s house was also burned overnight.
Garner had not been found as of 10:45 a.m., authorities said.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Garner is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 760-5757 or contact 911 operators.
Sheriff’s investigators were looking inside and outside the residence for evidence. Alabama Bureau of Investigations agents and officials with the U.S. Marshal’s office are also on the scene.
Emergency workers said the sheriff’s office was notified of the shooting just after 7:30 a.m.
Rogers High School Principal Tim Tubbs said the school has launched its precautionary procedures that prevents anyone from entering the school without an escort. He said the procedure would remain in place for the remainder of the school day.
Rogers houses the elementary and high schools. There is no known connections between the shooting and Rogers School.
“It’s typical protocol, and what this means is that all exterior doors will be locked and teachers will escort any students to wherever they need to go in the building,” Tubbs said.
