April 10, 2009 Suffolk NY seek assailant in security officer attack www.privateofficer.com
Suffolk police Thursday asked for the public’s help identifying a shoplifter who injured a mall security guard in Bay Shore.
A Macy’s surveillance camera photo of the man was also released by Third Squad detectives.
The man stole an armload of clothing in the Feb. 27 incident, police said. He left the Macy’s at the South Shore Mall on Sunrise Highway at 7:25 p.m. with the stolen items, and when the security guard tried to stop him he struggled, injuring the guard, police said.
The man then drove off in a black Cadillac CTS sedan.
No details were available on the extent of the injuries to the guard, who was taken for treatment to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential and the caller will be eligible for a cash reward.
