A 32-year-old Salt Lick woman was arrested Friday for shoplifting after she shoved a Wal-Mart employee who allegedly caught her stealing several items from the store.
Cassie A. McCarty posted a $1,000 bond Saturday and was released from the Carter County Detention Center on charges of second-degree robbery and possession of a controlled substance, said Morehead Police Chief Mike Adams.
“We responded about 8:15 p.m. to a report of an altercation in the parking lot of Wal-Mart,” Adams commented Thursday. “When the suspect tried to leave the store without paying, she pushed and shoved the employee.”
An undisclosed amount of stolen items were recovered. Police did not say what controlled substance McCarty was allegedly found with. The incident remains under investigation by Patrolman Wes Coldiron and Brad Gillock.
