Off-Duty NC police officer killed in crash www.privateofficer.com
Winston-Salem NC April 20 2009A Winston-Salem police officer died Saturday in a motorcycle accident in Davie County.
Robert Staley was driving along U.S. 601 South near the Rowan County line about 12:30 p.m. Saturday when the accident happened. The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
The Winston-Salem Police Department confirmed that he had been involved in a fatal accident but could provide no further information.
Staley had been with the force since Sept. 21, 1998 and was scheduled for a military deployment, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.
