MANATEE FLA April 27 2009 — A security guard at a storage business foiled a robbery this morning by firing a gun in the air, sending three burglars running, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.
At 4:24 a.m., the guard heard a noise and found three men standing in front of an Airport Mini-Storage unit in the 400 block of Braden Lane.
When the men started to approach the guard after he screamed at them, the guard fired a gunshot in the air, which sent the men running. A search of the business revealed the men had cut a hole in the fence around the business and had cut the locks off 14 units, leaving the bay door open.
The sheriff’s report did not say whether any items had been stolen.
