Security officer shoots, kills bank robber www.privateofficer.com

STOCKTON, CA April 28 2009- Stockton police said a suspected robber was fatally shot by an armored truck employee who interrupted a robbery at a bank just outside Weberstown Mall Monday morning.
Police said events unfolded just after 11:30 a.m. at the Bank of the West in the shopping center parking lot, which is located at 4950 Pacific Avenue.
According to police, the armored car employee entered the bank just as the robbery was taking place. There was a confrontation, police said, and the alleged robber, a man in his 30s, was shot. He did not survive, police said.
Diane Kern was at a bank teller’s window when the shooting happened behind her.
“All of a sudden I heard a bang, and between the two of us, we jumped. It’s scary. I turned around and he was laying there on the ground,” Kern said.
For much of the day, police investigators detained and questioned a woman who was with the suspected bank robber. She didn’t go in the bank, and police said she didn’t know a robbery was taking the place. She was the wife of the dead man and will not be arrested, police said.
