NC Police arrest 17 security guards in sweep www.privateofficer.com
GREENSBORO, N.C. APRIL 30 2009 — Police in a North Carolina city have charged 17 security guards at nightclubs with operating without a proper license.
The News & Record of Greensboro reported that police targeted six clubs over the weekend. The sweep occurred after three major crimes, including a homicide, happened at clubs since Easter. Assistant Greensboro Police Chief Dwight Crotts said the checks weren’t in response to the crimes and already had been planned.
State law requires that anyone working as a security guard or bouncer be licensed or be employees of the club where they are working.
Police said two bouncers were armed and another was charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana.
