Private security supervisor killed in crash www.privateofficer.com
SARASOTA COUNTY FLA May 25 2009- Two people were killed early Sunday in a wreck near the intersection of State Road 72 and High-Hat Boulevard.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Caitlyn Smith, 21, of Sarasota, lost control of her SUV and slammed into the Dodge Nitro driven by Delmiro Da Costa, 59, of Sarasota. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Smith’s passenger, Nathan Christopher, 23, of Sarasota, suffered minor injuries.
The FHP reported that Smith was heading west on S.R. 72 about 2:15 a.m. when her Mitsubishi SUV veered onto the shoulder of the road. Smith overcorrected and went into a counter-clockwise spin, slamming into Da Costa, who was eastbound, the FHP said.
Da Costa was a supervisor Captain with the Wackenhut Security Service and was on duty patrolling area clients.
