FORT PIERCE FL June 1 2009 — Three Fort Pierce women are accused of shoplifting about $130 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart as they carried three toddlers with them Tuesday, according to Fort Pierce police.
Andrea D. Clark, 19, of the 3300 block of South Seventh Street, Tequila Boston, 19, and Fran Toya Lashon Roberts, 18, both of the 2800 block or Harson Way, were each charged with misdemeanor retail theft. The mothers of Boston and Roberts arrived at Wal-Mart after the arrests to pick up the toddlers. The relationship between the suspects and the babies was not mentioned in the reports.
Loss prevention staff at Wal-Mart on Okeechobee Road spotted the three women through surveillance cameras concealing more than $130 worth of goods in the store about 5 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The women took bras, boys’ underpants and men’s T-shirts and stuffed them into their purses and baby bags, the report said.
The three went through a checkout counter, but only purchased a soda, police said. All three were stopped by a Fort Pierce police officer when they walked out of Wal-Mart.

Mother arrested for burning retarded daughter www.privateofficer.com

FAYETTEVILLE NCJune 1 2009(WTVD) — Cumberland County deputies have arrested a 33-year-old Fayetteville woman and charged her with burning her handicapped daughter with a hot iron.
Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Debbie Tanna told Eyewitness News that a teacher noticed the girl’s scars and contacted authorities.
Nia Michelle Brooks of 113-D Vineland Drive, Fayetteville was arrested Saturday and taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center. She was being held on a $100,000 secured bond.
Investigators say Brooks burned her daughter with a hot iron on both her arms, the top left thigh, and on her right leg near the kneecap. The child told investigators it happened because she wasn’t ironing her Easter dress the way her mother wanted.
The 11-year old child is mildly mentally challenged, has no field of vision in her right eye, and only 30 percent field of vision in her left eye.
The girl’s teacher said she wore a coat to school with temperatures in the 80 to 90 degree range to hide her injuries, but the scars were visible when she rolled up her sleeves to play outside.
The Cumberland County Department of Social Services was called in to investigate, and case was turned over to sheriff’s detectives. They’ve charged Brooks with maiming, aggravated assault on a handicapped person, felony child abuse, and assault inflicting serious injury.
Brooks was set to make a first court appearance Monday

Security duped into helping men commit burglary www.privateofficer.com

PANAMA CITY BEACH FLA June 1 2009— Two Beach men were arrested on felony charges after allegedly forcing their way into a Beach man’s house and attacking him.
Bay County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the 180 block of White Cap Way and met by a man who said two men, one allegedly wielding a knife, attacked him in his home, according to a Bay County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
The man told deputies the men had previously tried to enter and he locked them out, but they returned later and entered after a security guard helped them gain access to the house, the report said.
The 22-year-old security guard told deputies he was patrolling the neighborhood when he was flagged down by Delmar E. Downs, 25, and Marcos Alejandro, 24, who told him someone inside the victim’s home who was not supposed to be on the property, the report said. The guard reportedly went to the door of the victim’s home with Downs and Alejandro and knocked on the door, which was answered by a female.
The guard told deputies Downs and Alejandro immediately entered the home and ran upstairs, where a fight ensued. They returned a few minutes later, one of them bleeding, and fled across the street, according to the report.
Downs and Alejondro were later identified and arrested and had their first court appearance Saturday, according to Bay County Jail officials.
Downs is being held on $15,000 bond on charges of armed burglary of a dwelling and aggravated assault with a weapon. Alejandro is being held on $5,000 bond on a charge of unarmed burglary of a dwelling, jail officials said.
