Teacher caught with his pants down with student www.privateofficer.com
A Stone Mountain Middle School math teacher was caught with his pants down early Thursday morning in the parking lot of a local restaurant, police said. Also in the vehicle was a 15-year-old girl, police said.
Jonesboro Police Maj. Tim Jessup said he pulled up behind a pickup truck at 2 a.m. Thursday outside El Tarasco Restaurant in Clayton County and pointed his spotlight at the vehicle.
Officers said they witnessed Charles Thomas McClendon, 29, of Decatur, getting out of the back seat and pulling up his pants. Police said McClendon dropped an unwrapped condom on the floor. Authorities said there was also a female in the back seat. Police said McClendon initially told them that the female was 18 years old, but the girl later admitted to police that she was only 15. The girl told police that McClendon taught her math and that’s how she knew him.
A representative for DeKalb County Schools confirmed to Channel 2 Action News reporter Jeff Dore that McClendon indeed was a first-year math teacher last year at Stone Mountain Middle School. According to a police report obtained by Channel 2 Action News, McClendon told police that he was in the truck to have sex with his girlfriend.
“I’m sure we’re going to run a phone records check because it indicates in here that she was calling him,” said Maj. Jessup.
McClendon is charged with child molestation and enticing a child.

Jersey gunbattle injures 5 police officers www.privateofficer.com
Police say one of the suspects used a pump shotgun and was ready for battle. When it ended, eight cops were hurt and two suspects were dead.
Newscopter 7 was over the morning chaos on Reed Street. Police lead residents safely away before advancing, heavily armed, on two barricaded suspects whose gunshots had already left one Jersey City officer shot in the leg. The shooting, however, had only begun.
George Brazdzionis saw the aftermath of what happened next – a gun battle between the two suspects and police. Four other officers were shot in the exchange. Brazdzionis watched as paramedics rushed an officer from the scene.
“He was holding his chest,” he said. “He had blood on his eye and his neck.”
In total, five officers were shot, three others were injured. The most seriously hurt officer remains in critical condition. All are Jersey City police officers except one, who is a Port Authority police officer.
Doctors at Jersey City Medical Center said the most seriously injured officer, identified as Officer Mark Dinardo, who was shot in the face, was in full cardiac arrest, with no signs of life, when he arrived for treatment. Doctors had to bring him back to life “five or six times” before they could stabilize him.
The trauma team at Jersey City Medical Center said a millimeter made the difference in life or death for 25-year-old Officer Mike Comacho. A five year veteran, he took a bullet to the neck which narrowly missed killing him.
Two other Jersey city officers took bullets. Police say 35-year-old Frank Molina was hit in the back and bullet proof vest remains hospitalized in stable condition. Officer Marc Lavelle, a 20 year veteran with 20 commendations was hit in the leg and has been released. Also released Dennis Mitchell the Port Authority officer and father of three was shot in the arm.
The two suspects, identified as Hasan Shakur, and Amanda Anderson were killed at the scene. They were being sought in connection with an armed robbery last month in which they allegedly shot a man in the abdomen with the same shotgun. Authorities said that the woman did not have a firearm, but that her partner wielded his weapon with deadly intent, sending residents scrambling for cover in a violent neighborhood known for illegal drug sales.
“This individual came fully ready to go to war with us,” said Police Chief Tom Comey. “This is a gun meant for nothing other than to hunt a man.”
Police have not released the names of the officers or suspects at this time.
Police identified the vehicle used in the earlier robbery from surveillance video. Two officers were told that the suspects moved it each morning to avoid getting a ticket and staked it out. The gunfight began when the suspects approached their car. The man pulled out a pump-action shotgun and fired at the marked police car, blowing out its windshield. That is when the officer was shot in the leg.

DA won’t prosecute Wal-Mart in shoplifter’s death www.privateofficer.com
A pair of Wal-Mart security guards who struggled with a suspected shoplifter who later died will not face charges. A Clay County grand jury chose this week not to indict the guards who scuffled with Russell S. Palmer, 38, during the Feb. 2 incident at 8301 N. Church Road.
According to authorities, the struggle began when the guards confronted Palmer. At some point, Palmer went limp and could not be revived. A woman who identified herself as Palmer’s girlfriend later told authorities that Palmer had been taking medication for a health condition and that she and Palmer had smoked crack cocaine earlier that day.

patriotledger.com
Chris Nilan, a former professional hockey player known for his frequent trips to the penalty box, was arrested on a charge of stealing a bathing suit from the Lord & Taylor store at the South Shore Plaza.
“I just wanted to save a few bucks,” he told police.
The case was dismissed Thursday in Quincy District Court. Nilan, a former Boston Bruin and Montreal Canadien, was ordered to pay $100 in court costs and to stay away from the store.
Police said the 51-year-old Milton resident and James P. McGettrick, 43, of Weymouth, went into a dressing room on Wednesday afternoon with three pairs of shorts and returned two. When he left the store, police said, Nilan was wearing blue Tommy Bahama swim shorts under the shorts he wore in.
Police said Nilan struggled with store security officers who followed him out of the store. Police said Nilan denied taking anything and threw punch at one of the guards, but missed.
When Braintree Police officers Michael Want and Matthew Crowley arrived, Nilan was still struggling with the security guards even after they knocked him down. The police officers managed to subdue Nilan and place him in handcuffs.
Police said two guards, Nilan and McGettrick came out of the scrap with scrapes and minor cuts. Nilan and McGettrick were arrested.
A Boston native who graduated from Catholic Memorial High School, Nilan played 15 seasons in the NHL with Montreal, the New York Rangers and Boston. His nickname was “Knuckles” for his role as an enforcer. He wracked up more than 3,000 career penalty minutes and set a Canadiens record for time in the penalty box.
