GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. Aug 17 2009– Police said a Glynn County woman is accused of beating two puppies to death with a sledge hammer.
Two puppies survived, but Glynn County animal control said their siblings, two other female bull dog mixes, were violently killed by their owner.
“I don’t see that they would be any different from these two here, very healthy and happy acting,” said Beverly Morris, of Glynn County animal services.
Investigators in Southeast Georgia said Catherine Tyre admitted to using a sledgehammer to repeatedly hit the puppies until they died.
“Why she chose to do this? Huh, that’s a good question, but we know she did it,” a Glynn County officer said. “She’s certainly admitted to it, and it’s not like she was trying to hide it. She was out in plain view.”
A neighbor saw the crime and called police. Tyre told officers she put down the two puppies because they weren’t acting right.
According to the police report, the puppies were “running in circles and falling down on their heads.”
Tyre told officers she “wanted to contact the Humane Society but didn’t have a phone,” according to the report.
The crime is especially upsetting because the county’s animal control could have helped.
“If a person wants to surrender them, we won’t charge them,” the officer said. “We return them to health if that’s what we need and try to adopt them out, and in the end, if they’re not, we’d euthanize them in a humane manner, and this lady knew this.”
“There’s no need to do what this lady did,” Morris added. “There’s too many options out there to take advantage of.”
The two remaining puppies and their mom and dad dogs are now at animal control.
The county took them from the home for their protection, and because they said their home was covered in dog feces.

LAS VEGAS NV Aug 17 2009 — A Las Vegas man accused of stabbing a man outside a Mexican restaurant didn’t want to talk to police and refused to submit his DNA for testing.
That’s according to an arrest report for 24-year-old Edgar Magana. Magana is charged with murder after the death of 22-year-old Diego Armando Solario outside the Las Palmas restaurant early Sunday morning.
Security guards handcuffed Magana after a fight between several restaurant patrons. One guard told Metro police he saw Magana walking away from the fight and putting an object in his car.
Detectives searched the car and said they found a bloody knife inside a paper bag.
Police also said surveillance video from the restaurant supports the security guard’s story. Footage reportedly shows Solario punching Magana in the face before more people join the fray. Magana is seen walking away from the crowd as Solario collapses, clutching his stomach, police said.

Montgomery County MD. Aug 17 2009
Montgomery County police have charged a man with theft and other offenses after he allegedly dressed as a woman last month, entered the Saks Fifth Avenue store in Chevy Chase, slipped a $2,000 Chanel dress into his bag and used pepper spray on a guard as he fled the store.
Jonathan Bradley, 20, was apprehended by D.C. police last week during a routine traffic stop in Southeast Washington. He was dressed as a woman, police said.
Montgomery detectives had secured an arrest warrant for Bradley on Aug. 10, charging him with theft, malicious destruction of property, second-degree assault and “intent to injure by mace/chemical device.”
It was not immediately clear whether Bradley had a lawyer. He could not be reached for comment.
The Montgomery police investigation began July 30, when images captured by the department store’s surveillance cameras showed a broad-shouldered person wearing a dress. The initial police description of the shoplifter was gender-neutral: “A black man or woman, in his/her 20s, 6 [feet] tall, weighing 160 to 190 pounds. His/her long black hair was worn in thin braids and pulled back. The suspect was wearing a black and white, checked very short mini-dress with long sleeves and a wide belt at the waist. The shoes worn by the suspect were flat sandals.”
