Jury awards $535,000 in Club One security lawsuit www.privateofficer.com

Las Vegas NV Aug 22 2009
A jury on Thursday awarded $535,000 in damages to a Fresno poker player who said Club One casino security guards roughed him up after he got into an argument with a card dealer.
Nshan “Nish” Minasian, 59, of Fresno suffered a torn rotator cuff on his left shoulder after the guards cuffed his hands behind his back and lifted them in August 2007, according to testimony in Fresno County Superior Court.
Attorney David Overstreet IV, who represented Minasian, told the jury that his client’s injury has required three surgeries, and he will likely need more.
After deliberating about seven hours over two days, the panel ruled Club One must pay Minasian $400,000 for medical bills and $135,000 for pain and suffering.
Club One’s attorney, Larry Peake, said he was disappointed in verdict. Minasian escalated the incident, and guards and casino employees did nothing wrong, Peake said. He said he plans to ask a judge to reduce the jury’s award.
