Police shoot-kill UNC student www.privateofficer.com
ARCHDALE, NC Aug 24 2009 (WTVD) — The SBI is investigating the death of a UNC student on I-85 Sunday morning in Randolph County.
According to The Daily Tar Heel, UNC’s student newspaper, Courtland Smith was reportedly shot and killed by police after an altercation in Archdale, which is near Greensboro.
Police reports indicate Smith called 911 from his car around 6 a.m. Sunday to say he was suicidal and needed help.
When officers arrived, there was an altercation and Smith was shot and killed. No additional details have been released.
Smith was a junior biology major and president of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
