Housing security officer discovers meth lab www.privateofficer.com
Picayune Police Deputy Chief David Ervin said the department received a call about the find at about 5:22 p.m. on Tuesday from the security officer. Apparently the security officer was attempting to serve some paper work and when 31 year-old Adam Hagen answered the door of his home at 504 Lewis Circle. When Hagen opened the door, the security officer could smell a strong chemical odor that caused him to cough and saw in plain view what he believed to be an active methamphetamine lab.
Officers with the department were sent out and as soon as they got out of their car, they too could smell an odor of what they thought to be an active methamphetamine lab. Ervin said consent to search the residence was secured from Hagen and in the home the officers found precursor chemicals and pink and white colored granular substances believed to be methamphetamine. Officers also found what they believed to be an active methamphetamine lab in the home.
Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agents were called out, who in turn notified the Drug Enforcement Agency. Clean up services also were called out to remove the dangerous chemicals in the home. The residence was secured and photographed and samples were taken, Ervin said.
Hagen and another suspect, Philip A. Milner, 26, of 29 Sam Powell Rd., were both charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school and possession of precursor chemicals.
