Police investigate brutal attack on college security officer www.privateofficer.com

ULLIN IL Oct 13 2009 — Leaders at a local community college say they’re outraged about a brutal assault on campus this weekend. It happened early Saturday morning at Shawnee College in Ullin. Police are still searching for the suspects and investigators say three men attacked a Shawnee college security guard.

College officials tell us surveillance video from earlier that night shows the men peaking into the men’s restroom located near the college security office, apparently waiting for the guard to return. When he came back to the office shortly after midnight the men attacked him from behind.

Since the attack the school has stepped up security on campus and has worked with state police in hopes of solving this crime. The three attackers escaped before authorities could arrive. Video from earlier last week shows the three men on campus but school officials say the men do not appear to be students. They insist robbery or vandalism does not appear to be a motive.

The security guard was treated for his injuries at a local hospital and released.
