The latest security-police news

LOS ANGELES CA Jan 12 2010 — Police are searching for two men suspected of shooting and critically wounding a security guard at a strip mall in Hollywood.

The shooting was reported at 6:23 p.m. Monday in a parking lot at Santa Monica Boulevard and Western Avenue, said Sgt. Alex Ortiz of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood Station.

The 45-year-old security guard was unconscious when police arrived, and firefighters revived him, Ortiz said.

It was not immediately known whether the victim was working at the time of the shooting. He was hospitalized in critical condition after undergoing surgery, Ortiz said.

Two men believed to have been involved in the shooting were seen running west on Santa Monica, Ortiz said.

No weapons were recovered, Ortiz said.

The shooting was apparently gang-related, Ortiz said.
