Michael Paul Ritter, 29, was arraigned Saturday by Magistrate Harry L. Snow on one count of malicious wounding, according to court records.
The incident happened just before 3 a.m. at Vixens nightclub at 9557 Winchester Ave. (U.S. 11), according to a complaint by Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Chad Jones.
The bouncer, Timothy L. Quinn, told police that a man pulled a knife out and attempted to stab him after being told he was not allowed in the bar, according to Jones’ complaint.
Quinn told police he then “elbowed” the man and dragged him outside. During the scuffle, the man bit the inner thigh area of the Quinn’s left leg, according to Jones’ complaint.
Jones said he had activated the emergency lights on his cruiser to pull over a motorist in the parking lot of a nearby bar when he heard the bouncer from Vixens yell to him and another deputy that he had been stabbed, according to the deputy’s complaint.
