A man who has been found guilty of gunning down a bar bouncer last year will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Tommy Phelps was sentenced Thursday for the shooting death of Corey Land.

Police said that Phelps had shot Land to death after Land kicked him out of the Almost Home bar last February.

Phelps claimed that Land stabbed him, but prosecutors said Phelps’ hand wound came from a broken glass not from any stabbing and that it was not a case of self-defense as the defense attorney had argued.

Phelps apologized for his actions during the sentencing.
