Stacy Spagnardi apparently stole the rugs from Bloomingdale’s at Perimeter Mall over a two-month period, according to Dunwoody police. She faces felony theft by taking charges.
Spagnardi was arrested Saturday after she apparently ripped the tags off of two rugs and stuffed them under a bed in the store, according to Sgt. Mike Carlson with Dunwoody police. She apparently left and returned about an hour later, and was confronted by police and store officials.
Spagnardi admitted she took the tags off of the two rugs under the bed, and that she had previously stolen three other rugs.
One rug Spagnardi allegedly tried to steal was 6-by-10 feet in size and cost more than $97,000, Carlson said.
All five of the rugs have been recovered, Carlson said. Police are investigating whether Spagnardi took additional rugs, he said.
Anyone who may have purchased a rug from Spagnardi is asked to call Dunwoody police at 678-382-6911.
