www.privateofficer.com Campus police responded to a possible suicide Friday and found the body of William and Mary senior Dominique Chandler in her Pleasant Dormitory residence hall.
Police had been dispatched to her dorm after some concerns from college faculty.
Pleasant Hall, located in the Randolph complex, was put under lockdown for over an hour as fire, police, and rescue teams investigated the scene.

Chandler, who transferred from Norfolk State in fall semester of 2008, was working towards a major in psychology. Vice President Ambler described Chandler as a “smart, disciplined, unusually dedicated and talented” student and recognized Chandler as a Dean’s List student.
In an e-mail sent out to students Friday afternoon, Vice President of Student Affairs Virginia Ambler suggested that Chandler’s death was an apparent suicide.

Chandler also spent significant time in her psychology research, as well as volunteering as a mentor for troubled youth according to the school.
Campus police said that the investigation is ongoing but appears to be a suicide.
Ms. Ambler reminded students that counselors are available on the phone 24 hours a day, and can be reached through the William and Mary Police at 757-221-4596 .
Ms. Chandler’s death would be the 12th confirmed suicide at the College since 1968, and the first since the death of Adam McCool in 2005.
