A tornadoe touchdown has been been confirmed a short time ago on the western side of Charlotte-Mecklenburg County North Carolina.
Authorities are reporting numerous houses with structural damage, trees and wires down and at least two minor injuries.
Emergency personnel are on scene in the Wilkerson Blvd. and Wildwood areas and several neighborhoods off from Interstate 77.
The American Red Cross is also on scene and has established a shelter where at least 10 people has been directed to.
The National Weather Service has been reporting numerous storms in the South/North Carolina areas with winds in excess of 50 mph, heavy rains and hail in some areas the size of golf balls.
More severe weather is still expected to move into the Charlotte area in the next hour or so.
