Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Scott Walker said the crash involving a Honda Civic and the armored car occurred around 3:30 p.m. at 47th Avenue and Camelback Road.
Police say the driver of the passenger car was traveling westbound on Camelback Road when the armored car pulled out of a driveway.
In Air15 video, the Honda’s car’s front end appeared to be crushed back into the vehicle.
Two armored cars were seen stopped in the road nearby.
Police say the victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The road was closed for several hours, before being reopened Friday night.
Police were not sure if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
The victim’s name has not been released.
