Gulfport teacher arrested in student sex crimes incident www.privateofficer.com
Katryna Martin, 28, was charged with one count of exploitation of a child and one count of aggravated assault.
Investigators said they received a tip that Martin was planning to meet a juvenile girl at an apartment to have sex.
When officers arrived, they tried to arrest Martin, but she jumped in her car and sped toward them. A Harrison County investigator who was assisting in the investigation fired one round, which was enough to bring Martin to a stop.
Martin is a former teacher at Harrison Central 7th and 8th grade. She was arrested in March 2009 for statutory rape. She was released with a GPS monitoring device, and warned to stay away from the victim in that case. Investigators say she was trying to meet that same person this week.
Martin is now being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center in lieu of a $1 million bond. The investigation is ongoing.
