HENDERSON NC June 22 2010 (WTVD) — The Vance County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a shooting that killed a 2-year-old boy Tuesday.
According to Sheriff Peter White, Timothy Atwater of Raleigh and his mother were visiting relatives in Henderson when Atwater accidentally shot himself. The home used to operate as an in-home daycare.
Investigators believe the child picked up the gun that was left on a countertop.
