PORT ST. LUCIE FLA July 5 2010 — A 25-year-old Port St. Lucie man was charged with aggravated battery early Friday morning after city police officers were told he hit a nightclub bouncer on the head with a champagne bottle after being told he couldn’t smoke a cigarette in the club’s VIP room.
Marcos Aurelio Rodriguez, of the 2200 block of Southeast Lucca Street, allegedly also punched the man in his face. Witnesses told police the victim first pushed and hit Rodriguez and a fight broke out.
A second bouncer at the La Zen Nightclub told police he phoned 911 when other people began throwing glasses and bottles.
Police also charged Rodriguez with misdemeanor resisting arrest without violence after he allegedly struggled against being handcuffed outside the club. Police reported taking Rodriguez to Port St. Lucie Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in that struggle.
