Pontiac student sues school security for assault www.privateofficer.com
Surveillance video shows a fight broke out between two students at Pontiac Middle School.
Peters said he was heading toward his locker when he was hit several times and then handcuffed.
“This can’t happen, not just to my child but to anyone else’s,” says Terri Parker.
Parker said she didn’t not received any explanation from the school district.
“They couldn’t explain why this happened. Somebody has to explain, somebody has to step up and say this is the purpose..because there is no purpose,” said Parker. The family’s attorney, Kenneth Burch, had this to say, “Our position is that this should have never happened, and it should have never happened to Maurece.”
Peters was an eighth-grader grader at the time. He was not suspended or expelled.
His mother said she filed a police report, but charges were never brought forth.
Local 4 did speak with the attorney representing the school district. He had no comment due to ongoing litigation.
Peters, who was 5 feet, 3 inches tall and under 98 pounds, claims to have suffered a shoulder injury. His mother said he’s still healing from the emotional wounds.
“I would like to never ever see another kid hurt in this manner, it’s not fair to them,” said Parker.
