October 11, 2010 Violent attack on Mesa security officer www.privateofficer.com
PHOENIX AZ Oct 11 2010 – A valley security guard was severely beaten, and it doesn’t appear that it was a robbery — just a random act of violence.
It nearly killed a man named David, who did not want to disclose his last name for fear of being targeted again.
He said he has a new baby and started the security guard job to bring in an extra paycheck.
The night he was attacked, he never thought he would make it home.
“I’m not going to make it out of here. I am not going to make it out of here … that is the only thing going through my head,” David said.
David had just started his rounds at 50th Street and McDowell when he encountered a group of men. He asked the men to leave because the lot was unsafe.
That’s when police said at least four men viciously attacked David for no apparent reason.
“This big, black guy pulled out a knife, said, ‘What are you going to say about it (expletive)?’ … after that, (I) got hit upside the head,” David said.
Another man repeatedly kneed him in the side of his head, while others kicked and beat him — fracturing his skull and causing partial blindness in his eye.
“I remember getting kneed in the head and feeling the pain in my side. I know I got kicked,” David said.
David helped police develop sketches of two of the men who attacked him while he was on watch.
Anyone with information on them or the incident is asked to call Mesa police.
