Ronald Edward Yarbrough, 48, was charged with third-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools. He is being held in the Polk County Jail on $7,000 bond.
The security guard called police shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday from the 1400 block of Southeast Hartford Avenue. He said he saw someone climbing into a truck at Don’s Tire and Auto.
When officers arrived they found the Yarbrough in the vehicle. He told officers he was cold and looking for a place to sleep. He said he’d been kicked out of a house in Indianola and had been walking.
Police said Yarbrough’s hat was on the floor of the truck and on top of the hat was a hacksaw.
A representative of the tire and auto company told police the business recently had been visited by burglars and a number of exhaust units had been cut from vehicles.
Yarbrough was taken to jail in a police van.
