Denver CO Nov 14 2010 Several female students who took shop from Dunstan Middle School teacher Gary Wegner told investigators the 40-year-old man would look down their shirts, press his body against theirs and inappropriately touch them, according to an arrest warrant affidavit in the case.

Wegner, who was arrested Thursday for investigation of sexual assault on a child and harassment, made his first appearance in court Friday. He was advised of his rights and his bail was set at $20,000.

Pam Russell, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County district attorney’s office, stressed that Wegner, who has been at the school for eight years, has not been charged.

Wegner is to appear in court again Wednesday to be informed whether charges were filed.

According to the affidavit, an investigation of the teacher began in early October after Lakewood police were told by school officials that three eighth-grade students had made written statements that their shop teacher had inappropriately touched them over the course of the previous two years.

Steve Davis, spokesman for the Lakewood Police Department, said Weg ner was placed on administrative leave by the Jefferson County Public Schools in early October when detectives began investigating

Falsely accused. Found not guilty on all counts. Turns out that a group of students got mad at him and lashed out with false accusations. They probably never thought things would go as far as they did. Unfortunately, the mans’ name and reputation have been tarnished, even though he never did the things listed on his affidavit. Oh yeah, and he has a hearing disability.
