BETHLEHEM NY Nov 18 2010 — A Troy teacher appeared in Bethlehem Town Court tonight on charges of trying to lure a 14-year-old girl to engage in sexual contact with him.
According to Troy Police, 32-year-old Chad Davey is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and trying to send indecent materials to a minor.
Davey is a teacher in the Troy School District and a coach with the Delmar Track and Field Club.
Prosecutors say he sent inappropriate e-mails to a 14-year-old girl on his track team.
He waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
The judge extended an order of protection for Davey’s alleged victim.
The case now goes to a grand jury.
